Louis Malteste, born September 14, 1862 in Chartres, was a French multifaceted artist, known for his works in the fields of writing, painting, engraving, lithography, drawing and illustration. He is particularly known for his depictions of spanking. He lived and worked mainly in Paris, where he exhibited his artistic works at the Salon des Cent in 1897 and at the Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts in 1902. Among his collaborations, he also worked for humorous magazines such as "L' Assiette au beurre" and "Le Chat noir". Louis Malteste also used the pen name Ignotus and wrote spanking novels under the pen name Jacques d'Icy. Malteste died on 25 January 1928 in Paris.
