Ugo Manaresi was an Italian painter, born in Ravenna in 1851. He studied at the Naval Academy of Livorno, obtaining the rank of long-serving Captain. He spent a few years as a Naval Academy instructor. His artistic training was self-taught, having only attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence for a short period. He opened his own studio in Livorno, where he dedicated himself to painting. Owning a boat, he loved observing in real life what appeared to him in the port and on the coast, to draw inspiration from it. His painting mainly represents the representation of boats and sailing ships, on the themes of stormy seas and shipwrecks. He characterized his works with a precise study of the structure of the drawing. He exhibited in Florence, Genoa and Milan. Ugo Manaresi died in Livorno in 1917.
