Cipriano Antonio Mannucci Biography

Cipriano Antonio Mannucci was born on 18 May 1882 in Nice. Mannucci studied at the Santa Croce school for Decorative and Industrial Arts. During those years, he was active in the Parisian artistic scene, participating in Salon exhibitions. In 1920, he was awarded by the Society of Fine Arts of Florence with the work "Self-portrait in black", which made him further emerge in the artistic field. His painting stood out for its loose and luminous brushwork and for the choice to represent subjects of everyday life. Mannucci's early works were characterized by genre scenes and landscapes, in which the refined elegance of the Art Nouveau taste was noted. Influenced by Divisionism, he adopted the use of long wavy filaments of color. In 1921, Mannucci had his own solo exhibition in London, which achieved great success with the public and critics. This earned him an invitation to exhibit his works at the Royal Academy in London and at the Royal Academy in Edinburgh, where he received commissions for portraits of the high English nobility. After returning to Italy and with the end of the First World War, Mannucci resumed exhibiting in Florence in 1920, presenting the "Portrait of his daughter Dina". Mannucci died in Florence in 1970.
