Aldo Mari (1913 – 1988) was born in Gorla Minore in 1913 and passed away in Legnano in 1988. His pictorial production stood out for an original landscape painting where the synthesis of the subjects coincides with a very high sense of form and structure. In Aldo Mari's landscapes, a concrete vision of reality is combined with a profound descriptive lyricism. All of Aldo Mari's landscape painting is based on achieving a perfect balance between pictorial vibrations of post-impressionist taste and the investigation of sensitive data through a geometric rationalization of forms. And so to the very accentuated pictorial synthesis, capable of rendering objects by means of a few rapid brush strokes, Mari combines a very accentuated sense of structures and shapes. Even in the most synthetic and minimal landscapes we can feel this structural value of Aldo Mari's pictorial work, in his superimposition of brushstrokes plane upon plane and in the constant search, within the composition, for a balance of volumes.
