Eurstachio Marilu' Biography

Marilù Eustachio (1934 – ) was born in Merano on 15 August 1934, lives and works in Rome. He taught painting for many years in observation institutes for minors. From the early 1960s to today he has held numerous solo exhibitions and has participated in various exhibitions and collective exhibitions in Italy and abroad. Despite having chosen painting as a privileged means of expression, Marilù Eustachio has always created works that seek to bring together a double vocation: the literary one and that relating to the figurative arts. His notebooks, for example, made since childhood, are conceived by Eustachio as a process that allows "making a book by hand, which can be enriched with images and writings, with notes and transcriptions". According to the historian of art Peter Weiermair, Susan Sontag defined Eustachio's work as "collecting, accumulating, building and leaving traces". Eustachio also tried her hand at photography, and in this case she concentrated on still lifes and found objects. His works are present in the collections of the Galleria Civica of Modena and the Museion of Bolzano. In 2005 he held a solo exhibition at the Galleria d'Arte Moderna in Bologna and the exhibition of a group of his works at the C. Andersen museum in Rome.
