Renzo Marinelli Biography

Renzo Marinelli (1922 -2003) was born in Verona on 10 August 1922 in the historic “Carega” district. He first attended the Art High School and then the “Cignaroli” Academy of Fine Arts. He participates in many group exhibitions in Verona. Starting from the 1950s he entered that climate of infinite experimentation and contagious cultural comparison together with artists and friends such as Chiecchi and Rampinelli. His is a truly innovative art but little understood and accepted. Subsequently, together with Degani and Mozzambani, he gave rise to a kind of Secession, it was a moment of artistic militancy of the highest level. He began an artistic journey that would lead him to exhibit in numerous group exhibitions in other cities such as Termoli, Florence, Ljubljana and Turin. In 1967 he was one of the organizers of the 58th Verona National Art Biennial. After a period of stasis, in which his appearances significantly decreased, he resumed in the 80s, exhibiting at the Novelli Gallery. With the arrival of the 90s his way of making art changed; he invents and creates “Arte in factory”, an exhibition of paintings and sculptures set up in the spaces of the Bissoli carpentry shop. His idea is to bring art into the workplace, convinced more than ever of the social and cultural value of every artistic manifestation.
