Mario Fallani (1934 - 2014) was one of the greatest figurative artists of our time, a meticulous portraitist of woods, flowers and dreamy landscapes. Born in Florence in 1934, he was invited to the Venice Biennale in 2011. In Florence his fame was the heritage of a circle of devoted collectors, admirers, friends or fellow students (at the Porta Romana Art Institute) and of raids in the avant-garde between the fifties and seventies, especially in Visual Poetry. However, Fallani was famous above all in Germany, Northern Europe and the United States where he had lived for a long time, teaching for a decade at the Art Institute of Chicago and at the School of Visual Arts in New York. The long association with Federico Fellini is memorable. Nomen omen: Fellini & Fallani, in addition to being one of his most convinced collectors, Fellini had entrusted him with the sets of Casanova. Fallani's last important exhibition dates back to 2005, commissioned at the Marini Museum in Florence by the art historian Carlo Sisi. Then some prestigious group exhibitions under the curatorship of the director of the Uffizi Antonio Natali and, at Palazzo Reale in Milan, in the elite of contemporary Italian painting.
