Valentino Marra Biography
Valentino Marra was born in Lecce in 1956. After graduating as a Master of Art at the "Gioacchino Toma" art school in Galatina, he continued his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Lecce. Since 1980, he has participated in numerous personal and collective exhibitions in various Italian and foreign cities. His works, including some Madonnas that dominate the altars of prestigious private chapels in Salento, have been exhibited in the most important contemporary art fairs in the country.
In December 2013, during his solo show at the Palazzo della Comunità in Orta San Giulio, the book "Dreams on Canvas" was presented, a monograph with around 100 works by the Apulian artist produced and distributed worldwide by Silvana Editoriale, edited by Francesca Franco, assistant to Achille Bonito Oliva since 2008 and director of the Alighieri Boetti Foundation. Critics have praised Marra for his ability to represent the "This" instant in art.
Marra's works have also found space in cinema: they are present in the film "ASH" by Simone Petralia, produced in 2015 by Giuseppe Lepore. Furthermore, in the latest solo exhibition in Monte Carlo - Incoming Proget - Ptè de Monaco, MONNA LISA 20 Gallery, from 9 May to 28 June 2015, the artist dedicated a work to Princess Grace Kelly, thus paying homage to the royal family of Monk. Thanks to his talent and his ability to represent the culture of Salento, Valentino Marra is considered one of the ambassadors of the Arts in the world.
