Philip Martin (Cork, Ireland 1927 – Sydney 2014) He began painting in London in 1948, also encouraged by his painter friend Alan Davie, slightly older than him. He later began with his Irish wife Helen Marshall to travel and paint throughout Europe; in Austria, in Vienna, he began the series of works on the theme of “Affiche-Collage”, a theme that would accompany him throughout his artistic life. He stayed and exhibited paintings in Paris, Ireland, Italy, Belgium, Spain, he stayed for a long time in southern India and, starting from the 1980s, he settled in Australia near Sydney. The first Italian solo exhibition was in Florence in 1951 at the Galleria di Fiamma Vigo. His works are exhibited in public, institutional and private collections all over the world.
