Pasquale Martini Biography
(Caramanico Terme, Pescara, 1942) Having graduated as a Master of Art at the Art Institute of Penne, PE, from 1966 to 1970 he attended the sculpture school and the sculpture technology course at the Brera Academy in Milan. From 1971 to 1994 he was a teacher of ornamentation and figure modeling at the Liceo Artistico Statale di Varese. He began exhibiting in 1970 by participating in the "Brera Students Collective" at the Ciovasso Gallery in Milan; since 1977 he has also presented his solo exhibitions, including the most important: Municipality of Castelseprio, VA (1977); Studio d'Arte OC, Milan (1977); Arnetta Busto Gallery, Busto Arsizio (1978); "Nuovo Spazio 2" Gallery, Venice (1979); "Sanpaolo" Gallery, Bologna (1980); "Settanta" Gallery, Gallarate (1980; '82; '85); "Emmedue" Gallery, Turin (1981); CIDA Gallery, Rome (1982); "Ghelfi" Gallery, Verona (1983); Trifoglio Art Center, Pescara and Chieti (1986); Civic Gallery of Modern Art, Gallarate (anthology, 1991); Town Hall, Ehingen (1993); Städt. Schiavio'", Veleso, Como and Mariano Comense (1984; '86); "30 Varese Artists", Civic Museums, Varese, and Moscow, Tbilisi and Baku (1989); "Without Borders", "Lamia" Gallery (1992) and Bumpodo Gallery (1995), Tokyo, and Niigata Museum (1996) and Gifu (1998), Japan; Gallery Space Yu, Sagamihara, Japan (1993); Blue Planet Museum, Fregene (1996); Palazzo Ducale, Casoli, CH (2000); Municipal Gallery, Kawasaki, Japan (2001). His works are part of many public and private collections in Italy and Germany, including the Monumental Cemetery of Milan and the Civic Galleries of Modern Art of Gallarate and S. Donato Milanese. In Pietrasanta since 1976, he founded and directed the "Marble Carving Studio", a sculpture school for foreigners, for 13 years; here he also worked at the Mario Antonucci, Silverio Paoli, Gino Tarabella and Luigi Corsanini laboratories in Carrara. In Pietrasanta he presented a solo show and an exhibition with Cesare Riva at the "L. Russo" Cultural Center in 1993 and in 1994 he took part in "La luce della pietra".
