Titina Maselli Biography

Titina Maselli was born in Rome in 1924 into an artistic family.
She is one of the most important Italian artists of the twentieth century. His favorite and recurring themes are cities, dynamic and frenetic metropolises, where the myth of modernity is evident.
His father was an art critic while his brother was a director. Thanks to her family environment, Maselli soon developed her personal style and began her artistic career, debuting in 1948 with a personal exhibition at the Galleria l'Obelisco in Rome. Subsequently, he participated in various editions of the Venice Biennale and the Rome Quadrennial, from 1950 to 2000.
A key moment in his artistic career was his stay in New York from 1952 to 1955, where he created works inspired by the Futurist Dynamism movement. After spending a period in Austria, he continued to live between Rome and Paris, where since 1980 he worked on the scenography of theatrical works by directors such as Bernard Sobel, Gilles Ailland and Carlo Cecchi.
In 1991 an anthology of his works from 1948 to 1990 was organized at the Casa del Mantegna in Mantua.
