Hans Massmann, born in Bucharest in 1887, attended the Vienna Academy and between 1906 and 1909, followed Professor Christian Griepenkerl's painting courses together with Egon Schiele. Hans Massmann, born in Bucharest in 1887, attended the Vienna Academy and between 1906 and 1909, followed Professor Christian Griepenkerl's painting courses together with Egon Schiele. The old Academy professor's old-fashioned teaching methods caused constant conflict with the students. Schiele, who left the Academy in 1909, then founded the New Art Group, which organized its first exhibition in 1909 at the Salon Pisko in Vienna together with Hans Massmann and other artists.
Massmann died in 1973 in Vienna.
