Bartek Materka (1973 - ) is an artist of Polish origins, dedicated to painting, photography and graphic arts. In 2004 he graduated from the Faculty of Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. His works are in the collections of the MOCAK Museum of Contemporary Art in Krakow, the Bunkier Sztuki Gallery, as well as in numerous private collections. His works reveal an interest in the functioning of the ocular system and sight. When recording the surrounding reality, the artist simultaneously displays distortions (e.g. technical or biological) that can affect the image. These pictorial experiments, in addition to being motivated by scientific interests, betray strong emotions. Alongside autobiographical themes, works emerge that analyze psychological and sociological phenomena.
