Eliseo Mattiacci (Cagli, 13 November 1940 - Pesaro, 25 August 2019) is an Italian artist. Mattiacci was an exponent of Arte Povera who from the beginning stood out for his original use of materials such as metals, glass, sand, flexible tubes and magnets. In 1964 he settled in Rome. His first solo exhibition dates back to 1967: Mattiacci invades the La Tartaruga gallery in Rome with an articulated nickel-plated iron tube, 150 meters long, enamelled in "Agip yellow", after having transported it through the streets of the city together with a group of friends . The Tubo, modified in relation to the different contexts, was presented the same year in various exhibitions including "Arte Povera e Imspazio" at the Galleria La Bertesca in Genoa, the exhibition curated by Germano Celant, which marks the start of the critical story of 'Poor art.
