Maddalena Mauri Biography
Maddalena Mauri was born in Rome in 1962, currently residing and working in Viterbo. He made his debut in the art world in 1990 by participating in the collective exhibitions Progetto in Civitella d'Agliano and Fragmenta at Palazzo Valentini in Rome. In 1991 he inaugurated his first solo exhibition at the Miralli Gallery in Palazzo Chigi Albani in Viterbo, curated by Simonetta Lux. The following year, in 1993, he participated in the Suzzara Prize at the invitation of Enrico Crispolti and exhibited for the first time at abroad, in Lyon at the Galerie Jacasse. In 2000 he participated in the exhibitions Dalla Mini al mini at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome and Extra Vergine of Contemporary Art at the Flash Art Museum in Trevi. In 2002, curated by Simonetta Lux and Gianluca Marziani, he presented the solo exhibition Dieci at the Museo Laboratorio of the La Sapienza University of Rome, focusing on drawing in all its forms as the main object of study. In 2005 she was invited by Vittorio Sgarbi to the exhibition Il Male – Exercises in cruel painting at the Palazzina di Caccia di Stupinigi near Turin. In 2008 he participated in the exhibition Les Fleurs du Mal, 1857-2007, for Charles Baudelaire, sponsored by the French Embassy and curated by Roberto Savi. In 2009, with the organization of Antonio Arevalo, he presented his first environmental installation in graphite powder and colored earth entitled A strictly personal story at the Karlin Studios in Prague. In 2011 he participated in the Water Tower Art Fest in Sofia presenting the Fragile project and in the same year he exhibited at the Italian Cultural Institute in Shanghai and at the Galzenica gallery in Zagreb. In 2012 she was invited by the Italian Cultural Institute of Sofia to participate in the Water Tower Art Fest in Sofia for which she produced her first installation of the Magic moments series.
