Lorenzo Mazza Biography
Lorenzo Mazza was born in Crema in 1952. After completing his architectural studies at the Polytechnic of Milan, where he carried out a thesis on futurist scenography under the supervision of the art critic Mario de Micheli, he decided to dedicate himself completely to painting. He began exhibiting his works outside the official circuits until 1985, when he began collaborating with Giovanni Fumagalli's Galleria delle Ore, located in the heart of the Brera district in Milan.
In the following years, Lorenzo Mazza participated in numerous exhibitions and artistic events, including the XXX Milan Biennale at the Permanente, where he received important awards. In 1986 he was invited to exhibit in Germany and participated in the collective exhibition at the Permanente dedicated to seven artists of the younger generations, whose catalog was published by Mazzotta.
Over the years, Lorenzo Mazza has collaborated with various cultural institutions and companies, creating posters, television theme tunes and images for theater shows and concerts. In 1990, he created the Eurovision theme song for the Football World Cup at the Rai studios in Rome. Furthermore, he created a series of posters for the jazz concerts of the Municipality of Milan, as well as the image of the musical Helzapoppin for the Teatro dell'Elfo directed by Gabriele Salvatores.
Among the most important exhibitions organized for the artist is his solo exhibition at the Galleria San Fedele in Milan. He also began collaborating with Alberto Carrain's Adelphi di Padova, which gave birth to Alberto Biasi's N group during the 1960s. Lorenzo Mazza's creations are often used in film sets, in advertising and in fashion and you can also see them on the covers of furniture magazines. His works are present in various public art galleries, such as La Farnesina and Cesare da Sesto, and in private collections both in Italy and abroad.
