Bruto Mazzolani (1880 - 1949) was an Italian painter, son of Giuseppe Mazzolani who passed on the rudiments of painting to him. Subsequently, he studied at the Accademia Clementina in Bologna under the guidance of Domenico Ferri. He participated in local exhibitions in Milan, Bologna and Ferrara, including an exhibition in 1897 at Palazzo dei Diamanti in Ferrara.
Specializing in nudes and landscapes, his production demonstrates a progressive abandonment of academic realism in favor of a painting with marked divisionist and Macchiaioli accents, becoming increasingly strongly material.
Brutus painted many portraits, including those of his wife, in which the image of the woman's face was defined in every detail. Furthermore, he painted many landscapes, including the seascapes of Santa Margherita Ligure, the mountains and cabins of Cortina d'Ampezzo, and Lake Como. He exhibited his works at the Salvietti Gallery in Milan in 1946 and continued to paint until his death.
