Andrew V. Mc Laglen Biography

Andrew V. McLaglen was born in London in 1920. He began his career as an assistant director to directors such as Boetticher, John Ford and Wellman, working on films such as "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance" and "Rio Bravo". He later directed numerous television series, including "Gunsmoke," "Rawhide" and "The Virginian."
McLaglen went on to achieve success as the director of several classic Westerns, including "Shenandoah" (1965) and "Bandolero" (1968). He also directed films with a comedic tinge such as "McLintock!" (1963). McLaglen was recognized by the film industry for his ability to direct great actors such as James Stewart in "Dynamite Man" and John Wayne in "Chisum" and "The Tin Star."
Afterwards, McLaglen tried to experiment in other genres, such as war films with films such as "The Wild Goose" (1978), and "The Wild Goose Strikes Again" (1980). McLaglen directed John Wayne in five films, including "McLintock!" (1963), "Men of asbestos against hell" (1968), "The two invincibles" (1969), "Chisum" (1970) and "The tin star" (1973).
