Paul McCobb (June 5, 1917 - March 10, 1969) was a modern American furniture designer. McCobb was born in Medford, Massachusetts to Raymond and Winifred McCobb. Both his father and mother were born in Massachusetts. His father's family was from Maine, and his mother's family was Irish. His father was employed, from 1920, as a salesman of "men's furniture". He knew from an early age that he wanted to be an artist and studied drawing and painting at the Vesper George School of Art in Boston. He did not complete his course there, and joined the Army as a soldier on December 5, 1942. McCobb became famous as a design and decorating consultant for Martin Feinman's Modernage Furniture in New York in 1948. While working at Modernage, McCobb met B. G. Mesberg . Mesberg and McCobb would later become business partners in the Planner and Directional furniture lines.
