Vito Melotto Biography
He was born in Zimella (Verona) in 1928. He completed his artistic studies at the Cignaroli Academy in Verona and obtained his artistic high school diploma at the Academy of Fine Arts and Artistic High School in Venice. In 1952 he moved to Milan, where he still resides. The first solo exhibition at the Schettini Gallery dates back to 1960; in 1967, again in Milan, he exhibited at the Galleria Vinciana, and in Reggio Emilia, in the Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo; in '68 in Vicenza, at Palladio's house; in '73 at the Villa Contarini in Piazzola sul Brenta: “Contemporary art at Villa Simes”. Subsequently, we should remember, in particular, the numerous personal and collective exhibitions at the Milanese gallery "Ponte Rosso" since 1975 and the personal exhibitions in 1981 and 1996 in Casalpusterlengo (Torre Pusterla); in 1991 at the Bocconi University of Milan; in 2002 at the San Cristoforo Cultural Center Bipielle City Exhibition Hall in Lodi. Numerous invitations to prize competitions and important group exhibitions in various cities, such as the Premio Campione d'Italia; Cadorago Lario Award; Suzzara Award; City of Marsala Award. He also participated in the "artisti della Permanente" social exhibitions in Milan in 2001; “Il Convito della Bellezza” in Potenza and Loreto, also in 2001; “Art for life”, at the Arsenale of Verona in 2005; “Sacred Art” in San Simpliciano and San Satiro in Milan; “In Christ the salvation of man”, Church of San Cristoforo di Lodi; “The signs of the event”, Town Hall of Cremona; “National Exhibition of Contemporary Art” in Novoli (Le), in 2006; “34 artists of the Permanente di Milano” on display in Garbagnate Milanese, in 2009; “Female gazes, visions of innocence and seduction in the art of 20th century Italian” at the Imperial Palace of Innsbruck and in Racconigi (Cn), Castello Reale, in 2009; “The Face of Christ”, “La Canonica” Cultural Art Center, Novara, 2010. 2013 XV Sulmona Prize, international exhibition of Contemporary Art.
