Carl Diethelm Meyer (1840 - 1884) was an artist of German origins. After completing an apprenticeship with Melchior Paul von Deschwanden in Stans (circa 1857-59), he studied at the Munich Academy (1859-63), the school of fine arts in Paris and in the atelier of Alexandre Cabanel (until 1866 ). Returning to Switzerland, he worked as a portrait painter. In 1869 he returned to Munich, where he attended the school of Arthur Georg von Ramberg. In 1873 he obtained a medal at the Universal Exhibition in Vienna. His work includes genre scenes, portraits and nudes.
