Giuseppe Minoretti Biography
Giuseppe Minoretti was born in Arcellasco d'Erba in 1938. From 1950 to 1960 he attended painting and sculpture courses in Como and Milan. His exhibition activity began in 1957 at the Fine Arts association of Como. Although working in the field of objective figuration, he came into contact with the group of abstractionists from Como, among whom Mario Radice was of particular importance. In 1967-1968 he was invited to the San Fedele Prize in Milan, where he participated with concrete works already belonging to the Madi movement, which he joined in the 1990s at the invitation of Anna Canali. His first non-objective works were created in 1966 and were followed by an intense exhibition activity in national and international exhibitions. His first solo exhibition was held in 1970 at the Il Giorno gallery in Milan, presented by Mario Radice. Having overcome classical abstraction, in 1977 he chose line as the basic element in both painting and sculpture. In 1992 he joined the International Madi group, creating more dynamic forms. Since then he has participated in all the national and international events planned by the group itself. His works are exhibited in the following public collections: Museo Umbro Apollonio, San Martino di Lupari, Padua; Municipality of Cernobbio, Como; Provincial Courier, Como; Como Municipal Library, Como; Cassa Rurale e Artigiana, Carate Brianza (Milan); Municipality of Anzano del Parco, Como; Pagani Museum of Modern Art, La Plata, Argentina; Mobile Madi Museum International, Budapest; The Madi Museum & Gallery, Dallas, United States; Madi de Sobral Museum, Sobral (Brazil); Gianfranco Bonomi Contemporary Art Center, Brescia; Mondriaanhuis, Amersfoort (Netherlands); Satoru Sato Art Museum, Tome (Japan).
