Frank Moeglen Biography
Franck Moeglen (1969 - ) was born in France and currently lives between Berlin and Hamilton, NJ - USA. Visit to the National Conservatory Rueil-Malmaison, L'Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris, France. Moëglen, in his works, refers to current discoveries in neurology, to the structure of DNA, to the way molecules act, but also to the processes of psychoanalysis. Moëglen's pictorial works can certainly be read as an answer to the demand for contemporary abstract painting. The artist leaves behind the conventions of the genre and avoids its pitfalls, be they the gestures of the fifties or the too arbitrary decorative ornaments. Based on genuinely non-artistic, 'objective' starting points of a scientific, biological or historical-sociological nature, he develops his own visual language. He has been awarded several prizes including: Vele d'Argento Della Critica, Marina Di Ravenna, Italy in 2003; Desjobert Prize, 'Old and young today', Paris, France 1997; Symposium Prize, Cultural Center of the Visitation, Perigueux 1995 and Screen Prize, Galerie de Haut-Pavé, Paris, France 1991.
