Angelo Molinari Biography
Angelo Molinari was born in Ameno (NO) in 1956, where he still lives and works. He completed his artistic studies at the State Institute of Art in Venice and the Academy of Fine Arts in Urbino. Since he was a student, Molinari exhibited in various group exhibitions; among the most important of this first exhibition period we remember “PATMOS” (Sala del Maniscalco, Urbino 1983) and “Il coupe del pianerottolo”, (Galleria Moderna, Bologna 1982). At the Academy he met the Chinese master Hsiao Chin who introduced him to oriental painting. In 1986 he went to China and later to Japan. In Urbino he also follows the maestro Elio Marchigiani and Omar Galliani. His painting has examined various visual languages, from photography to photo-reproduction with pictorial interventions, up to the latest abstract-gestural research. His versatility also led him to a long collaboration with the Oca Blu publishing house of Omegna and with the photographer Walter Zerla, with whom he edited some art volumes. In 2004, together with Enrica Borghi and Davide Vanotti, he founded the Asilo Bianco association with which he still actively collaborates to promote a series of cultural and artistic initiatives in the area; among the most important we remember Studi Aperti and Corte Fieno. He has exhibited his works in numerous exhibitions, both personal and collective, in Italy and abroad. In 1990 he exhibited at the Spriano Gallery in Omegna, it was the beginning of a long collaboration and friendship that continues today. Molinari also creates unique glass fusion pieces in the Casarini studio in Savona and in Paolo Piscia's laboratory in Feriolo. Since 2000 he has been decorating ceramics in the San Giorgio laboratory in Albisola Mare. He collaborated with the Proserco Studio of the engineer Stefano Pagani for the creation of outdoor sculptures.
