Sergio Monari Biography
Sergio Monari (1950 - ) was born in Bologna, he moved at a very young age to Romagna, a lively land of artists, writers, musicians and traced his education there. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, where, as a teacher, he taught Artistic Anatomy and Sculpture. He began exhibiting at the end of the seventies and actively worked with the major Italian galleries. He is a leading exponent of Italo Tomassoni's Hypermannerism Group. Since the 1980s he has collaborated with the major Italian poets and published numerous artists' books. At the same time it promotes a series of events and exhibitions related to sculpture. In 2002 he founded the cultural association C.ETRA with other artists, opened an exhibition space in his farmhouse in Castel Bolognese, and created the Sculpture Park. He has exhibited his works in over ninety exhibitions, personal and collective, in galleries and museums in Italy and abroad, including the Venice Biennale, 54th Exhibition of 2011, I Tesori d'Italia, EXPO 2015 and the permanent display of a sculpture at the Vittoriale. He collaborates with the Tommasi gallery in Florence and Pietrasanta.
