In 1919 he moved to Varese where he lived for the rest of his life. In 1922 he participated in the Brera National Exhibition and in 1924 he exhibited at the Venice Biennale. In 1926 he participated in the first "Novecento Italiano" exhibition, held in Milan. In 1930 he won the Carnegie Institute of Pittsburgh Prize. In 1932 he won the Principe Umberto Prize for painting. He also received important recognition in exhibitions in Budapest and Paris and exhibited in the United States and South America. He exhibited at the 1931 and 1942 editions of the Venice Biennale. In 1939 he painted four large frescoes for the Provincial Council of Corporate Economy of Varese (now the seat of the Chamber of Commerce). Also in Varese he executed some mosaics in the ACI headquarters, at the Circolo Hospital and in some villas. After the Second World War he often stayed in the Marche and Liguria. In 1956 he painted the fresco San Martino donates part of his cloak to the poor and two chapels of the Via Crucis in Arcumeggia.
