Ulrico Schettini, also known as Montefiore, was born in Castrovillari in 1932. After the end of his school years, he moved to Pesaro to study ceramics at the F. Mengaroni School of Art. He then worked for a short period in the Molaroni company. In 1950, he founded the "Ceramiche di Urbino" company together with some partners, which continued to operate until 1953. The factory's trademark was a stylized cornucopia.
Later, Ulrico Schettini moved to Rome, London and New York, where he taught and became passionate about the art of Mesoamerican civilizations. He returned to Italy in 1980. The mixed media on paper dates back to the years in which Ulrico Schettini lived in Urbino, precisely in November 1951, as can be seen from the small towers of the Palazzo Ducale in Urbino, the Piazza della Repubblica and the church of San Francesco tractions.
