Roberto Montero was born in Rome in 1907 and from a young age began acting in small theater companies. He was subsequently cast by Ettore Petrolini, for whom he played mainly young actor parts for four years. After this experience, he founded his own theater company and toured various theaters for two seasons. In 1936 he made his debut in the world of cinema, acting in small parts in front of the camera. Subsequently, he began to collaborate as an assistant director and screenwriter on film sets. After the war, he made his debut as a director with the film "The Lover of Evil" shot in Bari. He specialized in the tearjerker genre, which was very successful in the post-war years, later moving on, in the 1960s, to directing spy films and westerns. He ended his career in 1982.
