Amleto Montevecchi, born in Imola in 1878, trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, where he enrolled in 1896 and attended various courses for many years. In the period between 1910 and 1918, he adhered to socialist ideals and created portraits of important personalities such as Andrea Costa and the protagonists of proletarian internationalism such as Karl Marx, Rosa Luxemburg and Errico Malatesta. Amleto Montevecchi, born in Imola in 1878, trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, where he enrolled in 1896 and attended various courses for many years. In the period between 1910 and 1918, he adhered to socialist ideals and created portraits of important personalities such as Andrea Costa and the protagonists of proletarian internationalism such as Karl Marx, Rosa Luxemburg and Errico Malatesta. Montevecchi moved to several cities in the Marche and created portraits of the local bourgeoisie, as well as genre paintings and luminous landscapes in the post-Impressionist style. In Bologna, he co-founded several artistic organizations and in the 1930s he turned towards sacred painting with particular attention to Bologna, where he exhibited in various trade union exhibitions. Amleto Montevecchi died in 1964 in Lugo.
