Silvio Monti Biography
Silvio Monti was born in Borgomanero in 1938 and studied at the Spolecznos Akademia Uniwersytetu Batorego. His teachers were Marian Bohuz Szysko and Oscar Kokoschka. In 1963 he moved from London to Paris, Brussels, Wiesbaden, Dublin, Beyrouth and Rome, before settling in Varese, where he currently lives and works. He is known for having designed and illustrated several CDs of the singer-songwriter Angelo Branduardi and for having participated with him in the Paint Session European Tour in 2003, where they performed artistic performances in theaters in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium and Italy. Silvio Manero's works are on display in several museums, including the Palazzo dei Diamanti in Ferrara, the Gallery of Modern Art in Gallarate, the Castello di Masnago-Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Varese, the Centro Video Arte del Palazzo dei Diamanti in Ferrara, the University, the Hall of the Academic Senate and the Faculty of Biology of the University of Insubria in Varese, the Confartinagianato Provincial Headquarters in Varese, the Vito Mele Museum in Santa Maria di Leuca (Le), the Epicentro Museum in Barcelona (ME) and the Ministry of Culture in Budapest, Hungary. In recent years he has collaborated closely with the artistic and literary promoter L. Mortara in the creation of original and ironic videos such as "Labyrinthos" at the Palazzo dei Diamanti in Ferrara in 1987, "Sleeping Demons and the Legend of Being" in Varese in 2010, and "Silvio Monti vs Giancarlo Ratti: Save and Adopt an AGM, Genetically Modified Artist" in 2010.
