Michele Morelli is a photographer born in Matera in 1962. He began dedicating himself to photography in 1986, favoring the Lucanian territory in all its manifestations, from the environment to the urban landscape. His shooting technique is very close to painting, both in the colors and in the cutting of the shots. Thanks to his photographs, Morelli manages to bring out the dimension of dialogue that photography establishes with contemporary art, through images that attest to respect for man and his culture.
His works have been exhibited in numerous exhibitions held in various Italian cities and in Spain. Many of his images have been included in various regional and national publications, including the regional council magazine and the monograph dedicated to the Melfi Castle and its museum.
Michele Morelli is also one of the founders of the cultural association Materafotografia, which deals with the promotion of photography in Basilicata. The author has published the photographic volume "La Festa della Bruna" published by Adecom and is working on a new project on the Matera hills.
