Mattia Moreni Biography

(Pavia, 12 November 1920 – Brisighella, 29 May 1999). Between 1952 and 1954 he participated in the Gruppo degli Otto supported by Lionello Venturi. In 1953 he painted works in Frascati that translated the scans of the geometric phase into objective landscape elements (the 'Fences'). The painter Mattia Moreni painted some of his fundamental works in 1953 in Frascati, during his stay in Frascati. After a neo-cubist formation, between 1952 and 1954 he was part of the Group of Eight with: Afro, Birolli, Corpora, Santomaso, Morlotti, Turcato and Vedova and was among the first to perceive the novelty of informal themes. In 1956 he participated with Francesco Arcangeli in the Venice Biennale. In harmony with the requests produced between 1952 and 1954 by the Gruppo degli Otto supported by Lionello Venturi. In 1953 he painted works in Frascati that translated the scans of the geometric phase into objective landscape elements (the Fences) after having lived in Turin and Antibes (1949-50), in Frascati. The objects he deals with in his art are the most varied: road signs, shacks, wooden images, watermelons, apple trees, furs. Anthropoid watermelons represent in particular the decay and decay of contemporary man. The regression of the human species manifests itself in images such as the series of now sterile female macro sexes or in complex sets of symbols including the humanoid-computer pairing. Moreni dedicates the last phase of his activity to the theme of the man-machine-computer relationship.
