Eraldo Moscatelli (1900 - 1988) was born in Carate Brianza (MB) in 1900. He was a well-known watercolourist. In fact, he studied at the Brera Academy with Camillo Rapetti and Ambrogio Alciati, obtaining the highest distinction especially as a portraitist. His first solo exhibition at the Permanente in Milan dates back to 1928. For long periods he stayed in Rome for the restoration of the Basilica of San Carlo al Corso and to paint the frescoes in the oratory of the Archconfraternity of SS. Ambrogio and Carlo dei Lombardi. The numerous portraits of Cardinals, today in the Vatican, also date from this period. Other frescoes can be admired in numerous churches in Brianza. Among these: the church of Cristo Re in Carate, the Prepositurale and the hospital in Desio. His works can be found at the Gallery of Modern Art in Milan, at the Civic Pinacoteca in Monza, in the Picture Gallery of the Benefactors of the Maggiore Hospital in Milan and in numerous private collections.
