Charles Etienne Pierre Motte (Paris, 2 November 1748-Paris, 5 December 1836) was a French lithographer and publisher. Charles Motte obtained the patent that allowed him to work as a lithographic printer on October 31, 1817, he was also among the first printers to obtain it. In 1827, he persuaded the young Delacroix to illustrate the first French edition of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's Faust, and he himself took care of the lithographed plates and the watercolor coloring.
