Maria Mulas (Manerba del Garda, 1935) is an Italian photographer and painter. Born in Manerba del Garda on 24 October 1935, she moved to Milan in 1956 where she began her activity as a painter to continue, in the mid-sixties, her artistic path in photography, a family activity given that it was already practiced by her older brother Ugo Mulas, which will remain his definitive means of expression. Between 1965 and 1976 he mainly created photographs of theater and portraits, and at the same time conducted research on so-called "social" rites. His first personal exhibition was in 1976 at the Diaframma gallery in Milan. A series of portraits of artists and actors of the time are exhibited. An important collaboration that lasted for several years was with the international fashion magazine Vogue. For them he documents social evenings, such as those "after Scala" at prestigious residences, or cultural meetings at the Feltrinelli home on Lake Garda.
