Murtic Edo (Velika Pisanica, 1921 - Zagreb, 2004) Edo Murtic attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb and studied the following year under Petar Dobrovic in Belgrade. Murtic was influenced by socialist ideas from his youth and joined the liberation forces, where he began his work as an artist, designing graphics, posters and books. At the end of the war Murtic's works were recognized, not only in Yugoslavia but throughout the world. Since his first exhibition in Zagreb in 1952 Murtic's artistic style has evolved significantly. His works from the post-war period include figurative paintings, while his modern works approach abstract expressionism. He held over 150 solo exhibitions and participated in approximately 300 group exhibitions across the continent.
