Born on 17 September 1835 in Laigueglia, Benedetto Musso was an Italian artist.
He studied at the Accademia Ligustica under the guidance of Giuseppe Isola, later becoming a teacher at the same academy. He also attended the "Evening Costume School". Musso painted paintings with biblical themes and small modern paintings that already showed the influence of the Lombard painters of the so-called "Scapigliatura". He exhibited in Rome and Naples, as well as at the Promotrice of Genoa continuously from 1864 to 1882. Some of his works were purchased by King Vittorio Emanuele II, King Umberto I and the Municipality of Genoa.
Among his paintings are the "Repudiation of Hagar", the "Sunset", the "Shepherdess of Brig", the Idyll, the "Stormy Sea", the "Lucky Hunt", the "Captivity".
