Nason & Moretti Biography
Founded by brothers Ugo, Antonio, Giuseppe, Vincenzo and Umberto Nason, NasonMoretti (1923 - ) was born in 1923, a symbolic date that corresponds to that of the design of the first lamp put into production. Since the post-war period, the Nason brothers have preferred, in fact, to abandon the classic shapes of table accessories to look for new stylistic features, so much so that already in 1955 Umberto Nason with the Lidia line of two-coloured bowls and glasses, obtained thanks to the innovative layered glass technique inverted (colored interior and milky white exterior), wins the prestigious Compasso d'Oro award. In addition to the pieces that have made the history of design also present at the MoMA in NY and inventions such as the Tilting glass, for boats, curved at the base so that it cannot fall. A creative drive which for NasonMoretti, now led by cousins Marco, Piero and Giorgio Nason, does not stop only at forms, but which also extends to the most secret recipes of Venetian artistic glass, those of colours. A tradition carried on by the hands and thousand-year-old knowledge of the NasonMoretti masters, today the only ones in the world to be able to create 30 different shades of green and 8 of blue.
