Francesco Nesi Biography

Francesco Nesi (1952 - ) was born in Tuscany in San Casciano Val di Pesa, on 30 September 1952, he currently lives and works in Tavarnelle Val di Pesa. He is a self-taught painter. His love for art pushed him to always paint, so much so that it became a real job, making Nesi a painter in his own right. The docile Tuscan nature constitutes the foundation of the artist's works, together with the culture inherent in this land. The Middle Ages, the Renaissance of Florence cannot leave us indifferent; the Ponte Vecchio, the Palazzo della Signoria, the Duomo are revisited by Nesi with his personal sensitivity, in a sometimes exquisitely distorting perspective. In 1985 he received his first most important award: the Bargellini Prize; the subsequent personal exhibition at the National Library of Florence. In the Salone dei Cinquecento in Palazzo Vecchio he received the Golden Fiorino Prize for painting. At first reading it seems easy to interpret, but it is not at all. His characters are sometimes interpreters of a happy dream, but sometimes they also express a search for the many question marks of life. However, in his works there is always a pleasantly encouraging and often ironic and playful message.
