Leif-Erik Nygårds, born 16 December 1939 in Stockholm, is a Swedish photographer. He grew up in Töcksfors, moved to New York as a young man and began working as an assistant to the famous portrait photographer Irving Penn. Five weeks before Marilyn Monroe's death, in the summer of 1962, Leif-Erik Nygårds took the last professional photos of the American film star. Among the many people he photographed are Muhammad Ali, Woody Allen, Francis Ford Coppola, Angelina Jolie, Nicole Kidman, the Dalai Lama and John Paul II.
