Eugenio Olivari was born in Genoa in 1882 and became passionate about painting from a young age. He began attending the Ligustic Academy of Genoa under the guidance of Giovanni Quinzio. Soon, he specialized in pointillist technique, dedicating himself above all to landscape painting. In 1903 he made his debut at the Genoese Promotrice and subsequently participated there for twelve years, until 1915. Olivari's painting is strongly characterized by his profound connection with nature. His divisionism is calibrated and enriched with lyrical and poetic elements of great evocative intensity, especially in his seascapes and his interior paintings which look outwards through open windows and which allow spectators to see the landscape that acts as a backdrop. background. During the 1910s, until his premature death, the painter partly abandoned Divisionism in favor of a freer and more corpulent brushstroke, free from conventions. Eugenio Olivari died in 1917, at just thirty-five years old, in his beloved Genoa.
