Paolo Orlandini was born in Grosseto in 1941. He graduated from the Faculty of Architecture of the Polytechnic of Milan. He collaborated for about ten years with the studio of Marco Zanuso Sr. and with Richard Sapper. Since 1968 he has worked with Roberto Lucci in the office, chair and kitchen sectors. The stylistic characteristic of Orlandini Design products is mainly based on formal cleanliness, i.e. the design of technical solutions that make the product economical and reliable, also taking into account the problems related to production. Another important aspect is the planning of customization, i.e. designing the object in anticipation of possible changes upon customer request. This innovative design approach helps companies improve sales, avoiding competition based exclusively on the lowest price. Paolo Orlandini has carried out and continues to carry out teaching activities at the European Institute of Design, the ISIA of Rome, the Polytechnic of Milan, the Polytechnic School of Design of Milan and the IUAV of Treviso. Furthermore, he has been a guest professor at various universities in Brazil (Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo) and Colombia (Bogota).
