Ben Ormenese Biography

Ormenese Ben (Prata di Pordenone, 1930 - Pordenone, 2013) Ben Ormenese studied at the faculty of architecture, which he abandoned in the 1960s to dedicate himself entirely to painting. In 1964 he began his research on the material, concentrating on woodworking and in the same year he held an exhibition at the San Luca gallery in Verona and one at the Vinciana in Milan in 1966. Ormenese always concentrated on the perceptive conditions of his works, on the superficiality illusory nature of the joints and the plasticity of the shapes. In the 1960s he began the LAM cycle, lamellar structures, in which his interest in the effects of light, color and perceptive movement emerged. In 1968 it arrived at the Vismara Gallery and in 1970 at the Falchi Gallery. He organized exhibitions in Italy and abroad: at the Ravagnan Gallery in Venice, at the Teufel in Koln, at the Royal Academy in London. In 1998 the PoliArt Gallery of Bologna organized an anthology of the artist in collaboration with the Paolo Nanni Gallery, restarting the artist's exhibition activity, present at Arte Fiera di Bologna in 1998 and 1999. In 2000 Ormenese reached a moment of synthesis of all his research on wooden sculptures and construction with light, participating in numerous exhibitions around the world.
