Orrente Pedro (Murcia, 1580 - Valencia, 1645) Pedro Orrente was a Baroque painter, specialized in painting biblical scenes in lush landscapes with characters and animals. He completed his artistic training in Italy, working in Venice in the workshop of Leandro Bassano and in Spain, where he carried out important works and became a friend of El Greco's brother. His works are characterized above all by religious subjects and by the use of a descriptive and realistic style, inspired by the language of Caravaggio. His last works were “The Martyrdom of St. James the Less” and “The Sacrifice of Isaac”, examples of his mature monumental and dramatic style.
