Giuseppe Ostuni Biography
Giuseppe Ostuni A self-taught enthusiast, Giuseppe Ostuni created the O'Luce lighting company in 1945, which, along with Arteluce and Arredoluce, remains one of the most iconic lighting companies to flourish in 1950s Italy. As the oldest Italian design company still active today, O'Luce continues to produce collaborative lights from both young and established designers. O'Luce was soon picked up by Domus magazine, ensuring esteem and recognition in Italy and around the world. Over the years, the company has built a collection of lamps that includes numerous icons of Italian design, including the "Ochetta" lamp by Ostuni, but also the "Acrilico" lamp by Joe Colombo, gold medal at the Milan Triennale in 1962 In his work produced by O'Luce, Ostuni loves to reveal the qualities of metal, namely its ability to reflect light. His lamps almost always have a brass structure and a colored lacquered metal lampshade, which rise like telescopes with curved rods and adjustable heights. The shades are often adjustable, which makes his creations very functional.
