Meldola, 1927 Having graduated from the Institute of Ceramic Art in Faenza, under the guidance of Angelo Biancini, Pier Claudio Pantieri initially dedicated himself to ceramics and at the end of the 1940s opened his own workshop in Forlì. In the wake of the Picasso movement which was dominant in those years, he also created unique, primitivist-style pieces in the ceramic field which he exhibited in Italy and abroad. He also works as a mosaicist. In 1951 he was present at the Milan Triennale and the Rome Quadrennial. Stays in Paris and Cologne. As a painter he is present in various national and international art exhibitions. In 1954 he exhibited ceramics and paintings at the Totti Art Gallery in Milan and in 1960 he held an important solo exhibition at the Paul Ambroise Gallery in Paris. In the 1950s he was particularly attracted by the work of Maceo Casadei and then by subjects dear to militant neorealist painting (workers, fishermen and the world of the poor in general). Since the 1960s he has dedicated himself to research, even informal, and to the development of a personal, rapid and snappy style, which has as its subject icons of the Romagna world and in particular symbolic animals such as the rooster. Allegorical cues gradually enrich his repertoire. In 1995 the city of Forlì dedicated an exhibition to him curated by Flavia Bugani and introduced by Franco Solmi.
