Antonio Ermolao Paoletti was an Italian painter born in Venice on May 8, 1834 and passed away in the same city on December 13, 1912. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice and produced numerous paintings depicting Venetian life, with a specific focus on the intricate details and commercial activities of the city. One of his most renowned works is the altarpiece located on the main altar of the church of San Materno in Melara. His artistic output has been highly acclaimed by critics. Additionally, Paoletti was a collector of historical Venetian clothing and fabrics, some of which he later bequeathed to the Correr Museum following his demise.
