Emilio Paoli, born in 1874, was a notable Italian craftsman. He opened a shop specializing in the production of brooms in 1895, a business he undertook for a short period of time. Subsequently, he undertook the production of rattan furniture, baskets, bags, straw hats and decorative raffia panels. During the second edition of the Florence Craft Fair in 1932, Paoli's company presented a folding armchair made of cane and pith, equipped with cushions covered in raffia fabric and a chaise-longue containing a set of armchair and tables called "beach furniture". The latter were designed by the architect Ernesto Puppo. After the end of the Second World War, exactly in 1950, the company participated in the prestigious exhibition of Italian craftsmanship in the United States called "Italy at Work", presenting straw toys and artefacts. Emilio Paoli's laboratory remained active for over a century in Florence. Paoli died in 1945.
