Lorenzo Pasinelli Biography
Lorenzo Pasinelli was born in Bologna in 1629. The young artist carried out his apprenticeship in the workshops of Simone Cantarini and, subsequently, of Flaminio Torri until the early 1950s, when, following disagreements with the master, he decided to open his own school, which remained active until 1699. Despite the autonomy of his artistic career, Pasinelli's painting indirectly recalls the classical language of Guido Reni, thanks to his youthful studies. Pasinelli was called to work in Mantua, Turin and Rome for important commissions, for which he mainly created chamber paintings with profane subjects, including numerous versions of the Nymphs disarming the cupids. Furthermore, he created several portraits of women with various costumes and hairstyles, allegories and sibyls, expressing excellent pictorial quality and exquisite narrative. In addition to being a painter, Lorenzo Pasinelli also turned out to be a collector, in fact, he owned around eighty canvases, sketched paintings of the same, several copies and many drawings, including some works by Carracci, Albani and Cantarini. Pasinelli died on 4 March 1700 in Bologna.
