P.g. Pasini Biography
Pier Giorgio Pasini is a well-known Italian art historian and teacher born in Rimini in 1938. He completed his artistic studies in Ravenna, graduating in art in 1957. In the period 1956-1958 he also participated in cultural courses on Ravenna and Byzantine Art , organized by the University of Bologna.
From 1960 to 1984, Pier Giorgio Pasini worked as an art teacher, teaching drawing, art history and education in middle and high schools. In 1963 he had the honor of becoming honorary inspector of the Superintendence for Artistic and Historical Heritage of Bologna. He has collaborated with the Superintendence in various sectors, including the protection, conservation, restoration and inventorying of historical assets.
From 1965 to 1975 Pasini was a member of the diocesan commission for sacred art in Rimini. Since 1972 he has also been a corresponding member of the Deputation of Homeland History, dedicated to research on the history of the Romagna provinces.
Pier Giorgio Pasini is actively involved in various cultural bodies and associations. Between 1977 and 2000 he collaborated with the non-profit association "Amici del Friday" of Rimini, taking care of its direction and organisation. From 1982 to 1990 he was a member of the new management committee of the Civic Museum of Rimini. From 1985 to 1994 he was a member of the board of directors of the Società di Studi Romagnoli. Similarly, from 1987 to 1994, he collaborated in the construction of the Museum of the City of Rimini.
Pasini was also a consultant for the Civic Museum of Rimini in 1992-1998. He actively participated in national and international conferences, including events held in Savona, Arezzo, Udine, Bologna and Washington. He also conducted training courses for teachers and cultural events in Rimini and Cesena.
Throughout his career, Pier Giorgio Pasini has written essays and articles on art history for various magazines and published critical editions of published and unpublished texts. He has also compiled various exhibition catalogs and monographs, including those on The Malatesti and art, Milan 1983; The Rimini art gallery, Milan 1983; Guido Cagnacci, Rimini 1986; Guercino and surroundings, Bologna 1987; Fourteenth-century Rimini painting, Milan 1990.
